Getting the coverage right before the loss
If your agent worked with you to design and regularly update your coverage, you should be in good shape when disaster strikes. The critical starting points are:
- Replacement cost limits for buildings and business personal property, updated as construction and equipment costs change
- Business income (business interruption) limits based on a real analysis of your income, fixed costs and how long it would take to reopen after a worst-case loss
- Special coverages for inventory on delivery vehicles, property at job sites, and property of others in your care
- Keeping your agent informed about new locations, inventory and expansions
When the claim is disputed
Even a well-designed program can run into trouble when the claim is presented. If your insurance company is not treating your claim fairly, or your agent failed in their duty to advise you about coverage, call Mr. Sapourn for a free consultation.
